What is TED?

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a global community that brings together the world's leading thinkers and doers to share ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less) that matter in any discipline—technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, development. TED releases all TED talks for free on TED.com, which now has 2,100+ talks.

In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED created TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

What is TEDxYouth@SHSID?

Going into our fifth year, TEDxSHSID is comprised of a handful of students who wish to provide a local platform for the sharing of important ideas within our community and especially within our high school. As students, we recognized the limited awareness that we have of the larger scopes of life. Through this platform we hope to bring awareness to current events, to foster discussion, and to inspire members of our community to change their attitudes, lifestyles, and, ultimately, the world. In the past, we have invited intellectuals from all walks of life to entertain, enlighten, and inform. Writers, artists, entrepeneurs, and volunteers have all stepped on our stage because, like us, they believe in the power of knowledge and its ability to influence a wide range of people.
